We are designed to be resilient beings. We are born with our hearts and minds open. We are vulnerable and dependent on those around us until we grow to be independent--tying our own shoes, learning to read, making our own meals. We love those around us who nurture us as we grow, like our parents and siblings; but, eventually, we choose to give our hearts away –we trust, love and surrender to so many outside of our immediate family—our friends, our significant others, our children.
We all long to experience an open heart more often, but at times we can feel too scared and vulnerable to reveal ourselves in this way. So many of us have learned to close off our hearts due to traumatic events that have happened in our lives—some recent and some long ago. There will always be disappointment, betrayal and moments of sadness as a result. So how do we continue to live wholeheartedly when we are faced with so many moments of sadness and grief?
One of my favorite go-tos for when I’m feeling hurt or anxious is to wear or hold a rose quartz. The rose quartz, sometimes called pink quartz, is the stone of love for oneself, love for others, attracting love, and becoming one with the Divine's love. It helps with healing and balance. Rose quartz soothing vibrations calm and cleanse the wounds of emotional trauma and pain. To add in a bit of chroma-therapy, the pink in rose quartz is about unconditional love, forgiveness, tenderness, feminine energy, awakening the love consciousness within, allowing you to receive and send love. Pink has a calming effect and is used in interiors to calm people down with its a gentle vibration.
The auric color of the heart chakra is seen as pink although the color of the heart chakra is traditionally associated with the color green (which means you can also use green crystals to help you with your heart chakra). The heart chakra is all about love. Love to heal yourself, love you feel for others, and love to heal the world. You'll find the heart chakra in the center of your chest area, from the spot between your breast going all the way back to between the shoulder blades. The heart chakra connects your upper and lower chakras. Within this chakra is where you'll need to pay attention to heal your heart and find the compassion within yourself to forgive and move on. The heart chakra is the ideal physical space to focus on when praying, deep-breathing, meditating or doing whatever it is you do to help yourself heal from anything that is distressing you.
